Wall Street Ren

About Us PDF Print E-mail

The Wall Street Ren is a leading national, independent, non-profit, non-partisan organization of Chinese-American leaders in finance, business and economics.

Our main resource is the collective experience, knowledge and resources of our members -- Chinese-Americans, who have achieved positions of leadership in a broad range of professions.

Wall Street Ren’s mission is to provide a free and open forum for the promotion of sound capital market standards and practices, and to encourage constructive relations between the people of the United States and Greater China.

As a financial market leader, WSR has cultivated relations with China, advocated opening the country’s financial markets and encouraged its integration into the global financial community.

1. Knowledge Exchange – To provide a forum where members of Wall Street Ren can openly discuss issues and concerns surrounding the community.
2. Professional development – To facilitate career development and professional networking of members.
3. Contribution to society – To promote the contributions of Chinese-American professionals and provide them with greater awareness of cultural diversity in both local and international societies.

One of the key functions of the WSR is to serve as a bridge between the economic and financial systems of Greater China and the United States. Our organization believes it can provide bicultural dimensions to the great issues facing the United States and Asia so that both regions may have peace and harmony.

The Wall Street Ren is composed of Chinese-Americans, who have distinguished themselves as leaders in a wide range of fields. With its in-depth understanding of both Chinese and American cultures, WSR is in a unique position to enhance mutual understanding between the financial markets of both countries.

Aided by our members' collective knowledge, experience and resources, the WSR has worked to bridge and improve relations between the United States and Greater China for years.

Our Mission Statement

The Wall Street Ren is a leading independent, nonpartisan organization of Chinese American leaders in finance, business and other sectors of the economy.

Each member has achieved positions of leadership on Wall Street in a broad range of professions.

Our mission is to provide a free and open forum for the promotion of sound capital market standards and practices.

As a financial market leader, WSR has cultivated relations with China, advocated opening the country’s financial markets and encouraged its integration into the global financial community

Education Program

Wall Street Ren has developed an educational program that plays a leading role in improving teaching techniques and learning about China. This program has been presented to the general public in the United States to give them a better understanding of China and the financial market.

WSR wants to acquaint the American people and their financial leaders with the changing face of China. WSR aims to be a valuable asset to both the American and Chinese people, particularly in helping both countries work together to improve the financial world.

Studies indicate that people in the United States and China have much to learn about each other. This is very important because we share the same future. The only way to improve our shared future is by working together.

 Business Program

The goal of WSR’s Business Program is to broaden understanding of US-China's dynamic business environment. Towards that end, WSR's Business Programs department organizes timely and insightful programs throughout the U.S. and China. These include:

   * Conferences
   * Panel discussions
   * Briefings
   * Symposia
   * Study missions

The programs bring together an extraordinary community of policymakers, corporate executives, nongovernmental organization (NGO) leaders, scholars and the media to respond to fast-breaking events and important trends in China.

In 2006, China announced its plan to open its financial markets to the world. In view of this exciting event, Wall Street companies are facing unprecedented opportunity and are now seeking to expand their shares in the Chinese market. For example, Goldman Sachs recently made the highest single trade with China.

Wall Street Ren’s Business Programs have been well-received, especially its programs in New York City which discuss the latest financial developments and opportunities in China.

Several major business events, such as last summer’s roundtable discussion on China's capital markets, have drawn enthusiastic audiences from areas such as investment, government, the academe and media. A total or 32 managing directors and 71 directors attended the WSR event on Sept 5.

The Strategic Insight teams The skills, knowledge and dedication of our people at the Forum are essential to fulfilling our mission. This year, we recruited two people to reinforce our skills base and provide better support to our members. Notable among these recruits were the three Leadership Fellows who contributed to a very successful 2006.

The Strategic Insight teams work with the WSR business leaders and its network of communities to create relevant strategic insight.

WSR Leadership Fellows:
