WSR began with four front-desk specialists on Wall Street -- four people with vision, ambition, energy and pride.

In 2003, four Wall Streeters organized WSR’s very first event - a dinner at midtown. From there, the new organization began to attract more members who were happy to lend their support. In 2006, WSR celebrated its 3rd anniversary with over 224 members and a unique range of programs and networks on Wall Street.

The founders believed that the group should be non-political, but would not shy away from taking stands in the political arena either. As a non-partisan organization, the WSR's stance on issues are independent and not aligned with any political party in the United States or with any government in Asia.

The founding members were mostly in risk management but quickly grew to include fixed income, equity derivative, cr

edit derivative, MBS/ABS/CMBS, commodity and emerging markets. 

Along the way, the WSR has expanded its focus as its members' career, business and community interests grew. To date, we have hosted over 36 events (including 31 monthly gatherings)

The WSR's community outreach program has involved an ongoing, multifaceted focus on the professional development of capital markets and in mentoring to nurture the next generation of Wall Street leaders. The WSR College Connection program, for example, commenced in 2006 (Feb and Sept) and partnered Wall Street with academia. WSR members coach college students concerning career opportunities in the capital market area. Hundreds of students have participated in this mentoring program with a wide network of Wall Street financial professionals.

In 2005, the WSR started to host charity events for OCEF.org, OCEF is dedicated to helping kids in rural areas finance their education and provides mentorship, builds schools and libraries and undertakes other education-oriented initiatives. In 2005 alone, over 135 outstanding students had their 2006 school tuitions paid for in full by WSR.

Throughout its history, the WSR has been at the forefront of envisioning, developing, achieving and showcasing the advancement of Chinese professionals in the capital market. Through WSR networks, members continue to explore and address opportunities and challenges intrinsic to leadership.
