Ms. Lan Cai is Managing Director and Senior Portfolio Manager at AIG Investments. She is responsible for managing Merger Arbitrage portfolios and Insured Index Plus funds; overseeing research enhanced portfolios, long-short equities and high income funds. Professor Zhiwu Chen is an expert on finance theory, securities valuation, emerging markets, and China's economy and capital markets. Dr. Chen is a frequent contributor to top economics and finance journals with research papers ranging from novel means of valuing stocks and pricing options, to studies of foreign exchange, market integration, mutual funds and profitable investment strategies. In the last few years, Dr. Chen has been actively doing research on market development and institution-building issues in the context of China's transition process and other emerging markets. What institutions are necessary for markets to develop? What roles do financial innovations play in a country's economic development process? These are among the issues which Dr. Chen's research focuses on. Cho Ralph, Managing Director, WestLB

Ralph Cho is an Managing Director at WestLB AG in New York supporting both bank loan syndications and private placements for the Americas region. Mr. Cho joined WestLB in 2004 from Credit Suisse First Boston where he was in the Investment Banking Division within the Global Energy Group. He has been involved in a number of financings, concluding in excess of US$1 billion in the energy sector. Since joining WestLB, Mr. Cho has been involved in a variety of syndications for energy companies such as Caithness Energy (developer and acquirer of wind farms), Cheyenne Plains (developer of gas pipelines sponsored by El Paso), La Paloma and Wolf Hollow (acquisition of gas-fired plants in California and Texas respectively). Specifically in the biofuels sector, Mr. Cho has been actively involved in successfully syndicating approximately US$1.5 billion in Ethanol financings to date. These high profile financings include a US$275 million credit facility for ASAlliances Biofuel’s three 100 million gallon corn-based Ethanol plants in the mid-west sponsored by Cargill and DE Shaw, and a US$298.5 million credit facility for White Energy’s acquisition of an Ethanol plant in Russell, Kansas and construction of two 100 million gallon corn-based Ethanol plant in Hereford, Texas and Plainview, Texas. The most recent financing he has been involved with is Pacific Ethanol’s $325 million five plant destination portfolio syndicated in one of the more challenging market environments. Gang Chu is a Managing Director and a Senior Portfolio Manager for Citigroup Alternative Investments, where he manages a $1 billion capital municipal arbitrage fund. Prior to joining Citigroup Alternative Investments in May 2002, Mr. Chu comanaged a $6 billion municipal arbitrage portfolio at the Municipal Arbitrage desk at Citigroup Global Markets. Prior to April 2001, he traded a $5 billion municipal arbitrage portfolio in Citibank's Tax Exempt Structured Products business. Before that, he held several positions at Citibank, which he joined in September 1993. Jianqing Fan was named professor of operations research and financial engineering. A specialist in statistics, he has served as a faculty member at the University of North Carolina and the Chinese University of Hong Kong over the last 14 years. He also has been chair of the statistics department of Chinese University, where he received teaching awards in 2001 and 2002. In addition, Professor Fan received the 2000 President's Award from the Committee of Presidents of Statistical Societies. He is a member of the International Statistical Institute and a fellow of the Institute of Mathematical Statistics and the American Statistical Association. He served on the board of the International Chinese Statistical Association from 2000 to 2002. The author of three books, Professor Fan serves as associate editor of The Annals of Statistics, the Journal of the American Statistical Association, and Statistica Sinica. He earned his bachelor's degree from Fudan University in China, his master's degree from Academia Sinica in China, and his doctoral degree from the University of California at Berkeley. His research interests are quantitative finance and risk management, high-dimensional data analyses, likelihood theory, nonparametric tests, wavelets, generalized linear models, analysis of longitudinal data, nonlinear time series, model selections, data-analytic modeling, survival analysis, and statistical decision.

Feng has more than fifteen years of technical and managerial experience in the computer, communication and data networking industries. In 1997, Feng co-founded NetScreen Technologies, which has become one of the world's leading network security equipment vendors. In NetScreen, Feng served as VP of Engineering, Chief Strategy Officer and a board director. NetScreen went public on NASDAQ in 2001. Professor Huang's research interests range broadly: While his work in recent years has focused mainly on behavioral finance and, in particular, the applications of cognitive psychology to understanding the pricing of financial assets, he has also worked on credit risk and derivatives, on the effects of illiquidity on asset prices, and on the application of auction theory to takeovers. He has published in the Journal of Political Economy, the Quarterly Journal of Economics, the American Economic Review, the Journal of Economic Theory, and the Journal of Finance, and has won awards for both research and teaching. Prior to coming to the Johnson School, Huang taught at the Stanford University Graduate School of Business and at the Graduate School of Business at the University of Chicago. Professor Huang currently serves as an associate editor for the American Economic Review.

Huang Vivien, Head, Goldman Sachs

Vivien Huang is the head of ABS research at Goldman Sachs . She focuses on mortgage related ABS sector and is responsible for analyzing collateral performance and home price trends and developing prepayment and credit models for ABS products, including subprime mortgages and second liens. Wai Lee joined Lehman Brothers Asset Management in 2004 as head of Quantitative Investment Group, with overall responsibility for the quantitative investment function based in New York. Previously, he was the head of the Quantitative Engineering Group at Credit Suisse Asset Management (CSAM), responsible for the application of quantitative research across various products and strategies. At CSAM, Mr. Lee managed an equity portfolio and was a founding member of the Equity Investment Policy Group, which oversees the investment processes of all equity products. He was also a member of the Global Currency Group and Global Interest Rate Group. Mr. Lee joined CSAM in 2000 from J.P. Li Shanquan, Managing Director, Oppenheimer Funds

Shanquan Li is a Managing Director at Oppenheimer Funds. Shanquan Li Graduated from Renmin University of China in 1982. After his graduation, he was recruited by the Development Research Center of the State Council. In 1986, he was selected as Humphrey Fellow and was invited to the United States by Winston Lord, Ambassador of the US in Beijing. Lim Terence, Managing Director, Goldman Sachs

Terence has also been a senior researcher and head of international research on the quantitative research team. Previously, he taught at Dartmouth College Tuck School of Business as a visiting assistant professor in finance, and began his investment management career at Koeneman Capital Management in Singapore. Terence holds a PhD in financial economics from MIT Sloan School of Management, dual BS degrees summa cum laude from the Management and Technology Program at the University of Pennsylvania Wharton and Engineering Schools as recipient of a Chase Manhattan Foundation scholarship, and the CFA, CPA and CFP professional designations. His research has been awarded a Q-group grant, and published in the Journal of Finance, the Derivatives Sourcebook, and Modern Investment Management: An Equilibrium Approach. Born and raised in Singapore, Terence now resides in Far Hills, New Jersey with wife Joanne and their three children.

Lin Junze, Managing Director, Bear Stearns

Junze Lin is a Managing Director at Bear Stearns. He is in charge of the quantitative support for credit derivative desk and structures, models, and prices all credit derivative products. Mr. Lin is a member of the team that pioneer "base correlation" in synthetic CDO modeling. He graduated from the University of Science and Technology of China with a B.S. of Mathematics and has a Ph.D. Operations Research from Case Western Reserve University in 2001.

Liu David, Director, Merrill Lynch

David Liu is a Director in the Structured Credit Principal Investment Group at Merrill Lynch, is responsible for credit analysis and portfolio management of the structured product (ABS & CDO) trading book. Prior to joining Merrill Lynch, he was executive director in the Securitized Product Strategy Group of UBS, where he was responsible for modeling and strategy of mortgage credit and mortgage-related ABS products. Liu was ranked first in non-agency MBS Research and third in ABS/prepayments in Institutional Investor's 2006 Fixed-Income Research survey. Before joining UBS, Liu was vice president of ABS research at Deutsche Bank, focusing on HEL and MH prepayments, defaults, and relative value analysis. He received his PhD in finance and economics from Washington University in St. Louis.

Lu Bill, Director, China Operations at Tudor Investment Corporation

Bill Lu is the Director of China Operations at Tudor Investment Corporation (都德投公司). In that capacity, he manages relationships for Tudor business and investment opportunities in China and oversees establishment of Tudor’s China office. In addition, he has been responsible for managing and developing global macro trading programs for Tudor BVI Global and Tensor System Funds. He has been with Tudor since January 2004. Gene Ma is currently the Chief Analyst of CEBM. Before joining ISI - CEBM, Gene was the chief macro analyst at CITIC Securities, the largest securities firm in China. Gene has also worked at Ministry of Finance in Beijing, and Harvest Fund Management, one of the largest fund management companies in China. Gene has also taught graduate-level economics and finance courses at three US universities from 1998-2004 (University of Illinois, George Washington University and Georgetown University). Gene was born in Shanghai, and graduated from Peking University and Cornell University.

Min Zhu, President & CTO, WebEx Communications, Inc.

Min's career spans from the late 1980s, including experience with mainframes, database systems, networking and communications, telephony, PC collaboration software and expert systems. Min developed his technology expertise at the IBM Scientific Center in Palo Alto. He was also the deputy to the Chief Technical Officer of Price Waterhouse and the Vice President of Expert Edge, a software design company. In 1991, Min co-founded Future Labs, one of the first companies to produce multi-point document collaboration software. Quarterdeck acquired Future Labs in 1996, and Min went on to co-found WebEx. Wei Alex, SVP, Delaware investmen

Mr. Wei is a Senior Vice President at Delaware investment, he manages and analyzes fixed income investments quantitatively with emphasis on structured credit securities including ABS, MBS and CDOs. He is a portfolio manager responsible for over $3 billion of credit-sensitive structured securities. He plays a leading role in launching and managing Delaware's ABS CDO business and oversees other CDO activities including corporate synthetic CDOs and high yield bond CDOs. Previously, Mr. Wei served as Vice President and led the structured product team at Conseco Capital Management, managing the structured portion of its affiliated insurance assets including MBS, ABS and CMBS of approximately $8 billion. He had extensive experience in analyzing the credit performance of residential mortgage-backed securities, including jumbos, Alt-As, home equity loans and manufactured housing loans. He also led the development of proprietary fixed income systems, including interest rate option models, prepayment models for MBS and ABS, and a risk management tool for managing high yield CBOs and was also responsible for trading and managing of derivative securities.

Yan David, Director, CDO Research Group

David Yan is a Director at Credit Suisse in the CDO Research Group. Dr. Yan has been working on quantitative research and modeling in the areas of CDO, credit derivatives, mortgage securities, credit cards receivables and other structured products since 1998. Prior to joining Merrill Lynch, Dr. Yan worked for FTN Financial and OCWEN Financial covering a broad area in fixed income securities. Ye David, Managing Director, Nomura

David Ye advises the Chief Risk Officer at Nomura, and the Board of Directors on market and liquidity risk impacts of major corporate strategies including M&A transactions and repositioning of balance sheets. Prior to the most recent position, David developed market and counterparty risk analytics for derivative and cash trading activities within the firm. David holds a B.S. in Mathematics from Fudan University in Shanghai, China, and a PhD. in Mathematics from Duke University.

Yong William, Director, Credit Suisse Asset Management

William Yong is a Director and a senior Portfolio Manager in the Quantitative Strategies Group of Credit Suisse Asset Management (CSAM), where he heads CSAM's U.S. quantitative equity research and products. Mr. Weng is responsible for the management of CSAM's U.S. equity long-short market-neutral fund, enhanced index funds, and other equity structured products. Zhai David, Managing Director, Wachovia Securities

David Zhai, Ph.D., is a Managing Director and the Head of Market Risk - Traded Credit and Structured Products in Wachovia Securities. Previously he held senior market risk positions in hedge funds and Swiss Re Financial Products where he was responsible for portfolio construction and risk management. He also had front office roles in JP Morgan and Harvard Management, as well a senior credit officer role with Moody's Structured Finance Group. Zhang David, Director, MSTAR

David Zhang is Director and Head of MSTAR (mortgage strategy, technology, Analytics and Risk), a newly formed group providing analytical support for mortgage trading business at CS. Before joining CSFB, he was a senior director of research at FreddieMac, responsible for term structure, prepayment modeling and valuation of debt, derivatives and mortgage products for FreddieMac's investment portfolio. He also worked at CIBC Oppenheimer in New York and University of Chicago. He has a Ph.D from Princeton University.

Zhang Fan, Founding Managing Partner, Sequoia Capital China

Fan Zhang is a Founding Managing Partner of Sequoia Capital China. Prior to Sequoia Capital, he worked at DFJ ePlanet Ventures, where he served on the boards of Baidu Technology (BIDU) and Kongzhong Corporation (KONG), and led the investment in Focus Media (FMCN). Fan was named one of the "Top 10 Most Active Venture Capitalists" in 2004 and 2005 by zero2ipo, the leading venture capital consulting and research firm in China, and in 2006 was selected as one of the “Top Venture Capitalists in China” by Forbes magazine. Previously, Fan worked at the Investment Banking Division of Goldman Sachs Asia. Fan studied Computer Science at Tsinghua University, and received a BA and an MBA from Stanford University.

Zhang Haiyun, Principal, Bank of America

Dr. Haiyun (Henry) Zhang is a Principal at Bank of America, focusing on debt and equity investments in China. He has been focusing on innovations in the corporate debt and credit derivatives markets since 2001, when he joined Toronto Dominion Bank as Director of Credit Derivatives Trading. Prior to that, Dr. Zhang worked in derivative risk management, management consulting, and financial technology. He holds a Ph.D. degree in physics from Carnegie Mellon University and a B.S. degree in physics from Peking University.

Zhang Hongfei, Director, FSA

Hongfei is the head of risk management for the Financial Products Group at Financial Security Assurance and is responsible for all derivatives trading, investment and funding authorizations, asset liability management, risk monitoring, risk measure and risk infrastructure. During his tenure, FSA Financial Products’ fixed income portfolio that invests mainly in ABS/MBS grows from $2 billion to current $17 billion. Also Hongfei is heading FSA’s china business development effor, responsible for marketing, product design and presentations to major Chinese financial institutions and QDII investors. Prior to FSA, Hongfei was a vice president at Prime Brokeraage Division at Deutsche Bank in New York, responsible for developing risk analytics on a wide range of fixed income, equity and derivative related products for DB’s hedge fund and asset management clients. Prior to Deutsche Bank, Hongfei was a director of quantitative investment in the investment department of Nationwide Insurance Enterprise at Columbus, Ohio, where he was responsible for developing derivative, yield enhancement, ALM and risk management strategies and models. He led and managed one of the first dynamic hedging programs in the industry to hedge the exotic derivatives in their variable annuity business. Before his financial industry career, Hongfei was a Professor at Ball State University and University of Texas at Austin. He was also a research fellow at Argonne National Laboratory. He received his PhD in mathematics from Delft University of Technology, the Netherlands and a B.S. in applied mathematics from Tsinghua University, China. He is also a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA).

Zhang Jeff, Senior Managing Director, Bear Sterns

Jeff Zhang, Senior Managing Director at Bear Stearns, trades structured products(ABS/CMBS/MBS); he is based in Hong Kong, covering all Asia Pacific areas. Prior to relocating to Hong Kong, Jeff worked in New York as a member of CSFB's Mortgage ABS Strategy team, the team was ranked number one in 2003 Institutional Investors survey. Before joining CSFB in 1998, Jeff worked at interest rate derivatives desk of Sumitomo Bank Capital Markets and built portfolio analytics at Merrill Lynch. Zhu Quan, SVP, Countrwide

Quan Zhu is currently an executive vice president in charge of fixed income research at Portfolio Risk Management Department of Countrwide Financial. His main responsibilities are interest rate modeling, prepayment analysis, derivatives pricing, and portfolio optimization. He has been with Countrywide since 1998. Previously, he worked as a vice president at Kamakura Coporation, a risk management software company, and as a computer scientist at the Information Sciences Institute of USC. Prior to that, he worked at Fermi National Lab, Brookhaven National Lab, and Los Alamos National Lab as a high energy physicist. He has a Ph.D in physics from Rice University. (USTC)

Zhu Steven, Head, America Securities

Steven Zhu is currently Head of Credit Analytics and Methodology at Bank of America Securities in New York. Steven has more than 12yrs industry experience in fixed income, credit and commodity products. Steven worked as a desk quant, exotics trader and structuring derivative products across different markets at First National Bank of Chicago (now part of JPMorgan Chase), Williams Energy Trading, as well as Citibank at both its New York, Hong Kong and Tokyo office.
Steven specializes in the field of quantitative modeling and risk management. He obtained his Ph.D. in Applied Mathematics from Brown University and subsequently spent one-year term as a NSF Research Scholar at MIT Sloan School of Management.
