As one of the leading advocates of the concept of good corporate citizenship, the WSR has always believed that business has a central role to play in society – a conviction that is shared by our members. Our members support hundreds of school-age children in vast rural areas of China who are still struggling to receive basic education. We hosted the biggest donation event outside Houston in OCEF's history. Local government and parents are too poor to help. Our care and generosity will help these children get the basic reading and writing skills they will need to push themselves out of ignorance and poverty. Overseas China Education Foundation (OCEF), registered in Texas and granted by IRS as a 501 (c) (3) non-profit charity organization, is dedicated to help less-privileged children in rural areas of China to finish their education up to 9th grade.
Through my interactions with the WSR, I've seen the positive impact can have on issues such as education. My parents, who were both doctors, taught me the importance of a good education, China is using education to lift themselves out of poverty and compete successfully in the global marketplace.
